Approximately 250 protestors rallied outside a $2,000 / plate fundraising dinner for George Bush at the Westin Convention Center Downtown this afternoon. One protestor was arrested.
Protestors included members of the Steel Workers Union, anti-war activists, and environmentalists upset at Bush's anti-environment record. Inside, campaign contributors took advantage of the recent campaign finance reform law to donate $2,000 apiece to Bush's campaign. Prior to the law's passage, the limit was $1,000, still far out of the range of most working class Americans.
About 10 pro-Bush protestors heckled the main protest, shouting profanities at the crowd, but were drowned out by the much-larger anti-Bush contingent.
