Sept 15 will culminate a crucially important week in the war debate as General Patraeus testifies before Congress on the status of the "surge" and congressional debate on war funding commences.

This is the time for Pittsburgh residents to speak out locally and demand an end to a war taking the lives of our young people, bankrupting the finances of the country, and inflicting untold death and suffering on the people of Iraq.

The Sept. 15 march and rally will occur 11 days into a month long camp-out and fast against the war and Pittsburgh is not alone! Throughout September and October numerous anti-war events will be happening in DC and elsewhere, from large scale marches to lobbying to civil disobedience. The month long camp-out and fast means our focus will remain locally, where we can make the biggest difference. Let's continue to put pressure on our local politicians, confront the military recruitment invasion of our schools, talk to our neighbors and organize at our workplaces and campuses.

September is a unique opportunity to keep the cause of peace in the news here, as a real issue that we care about and not as just an abstract event happening far away. We can continue to change minds and change hearts as we build the mass movement needed to make peace possible. On September 15 join with us and add your voice to those struggling for the things we all care about; a world with peace and justice for all.
