| The Pittsburgh Independent Media Center announces the Pittsburgh premiere screening of \"Walking By Asking,\" the story of Democracy Uprising: a movement and a 258 mile march from the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston to the Republican National Convention in New York City. The screening will take place on Sunday, January 16th at 2 PM on the Carnegie Mellon University Campus, in Baker Hall\'s Adamson Wing and will be accompanied by media production workshops. The event is free and open to the public. The screening is timed to lead up to the 2005 Presidential Inauguration and the second anniversary of the 2003 Pittsburgh Anti-War Convergence, which drew 4,000 people to the city from all over the Northeast to protest the Iraq War. A brief documentary about that convergence, called \"The People, United\" will also be shown, together with a brief \"newsreel\" about other local Pittsburgh activism, including the Save Our Transit and People Against Police Violence campaigns. Workshops on video, photography, and audio production will follow the screenings. Snacks will be provided. | |
