While there are many anarchists who maintain the traditional line of refusing to vote arguing that voting both legitimizes and strengthens the state - there is a growing number of anarchists who are voting and engaging in electoral politics on local, state and national levels. Right now there are anarchists around the country working in swing states and preparing to get out the vote in an effort to defeat the neocon agenda and send a message to the world that the people of the US do not support the policies of the Bush Administration. This is a sample of recent essays from long-time anarchists Utah Phillips and Starhawk as well as two recent essays that I wrote. Starhawk and I are both strongly encouraging anarchists and left/radicals around the country to either decide to vote and vote Kerry or change their vote from Nader and vote Kerry. In swing states, the race is so close that 200-500 anarchists and radicals voting or changing their votes from Nader to Kerry could change history. (text/plain)

As commercial outlets praise their "dead-heat" patt polls, president Bush keeps his tough talk about marching freedom and replay sept-11th memories to demon strate his total warfare firmness against self-declared terrorists. While reality shows that his neoliberal, privatized efforts in Iraq rather produce, than eliminates hatred, illegalities and playfields for desperate terrorists, he insists his "rough" stance will prevail the situation. But all I know is that this wrong tactic will only breed more destruction, nemesis and more alienation with allies, friends and the reality of the people. (text/plain)

At the end of September, 115 politicians and foreign policy experts signed a letter that was delivered to the heads of NATO and European Union States. The letter criticized Russian President, Vladimir Putin's recent moves to end Democratic process in Russia. One of the recipients of the letter was George Bush, jr. As a man who has moved to end Democratic process in his own country, it would have been very hypocritical of Bush to condemn Putin for his actions. Consequently the only rebuke was Bush stating that he hopes Putin does not abandon Democracy upheld by checks and balances within the Russian government (The First Bush), but even this was ironic. I never really got to know my grandfather, Austin A. O'Malley, as he died when I was only four years old. He came over to the United States from his native country, Ireland around 1889, as a little boy of eleven years. Like many other Irishmen from Louisburg, County Mayo, he settled in Clinton, Massachusetts. I know that he worked there for a baker for awhile untill the Spanish American War broke out.
