Militarism and Materialism

On Black Friday members of Code-Pink for Peace gathered outside Macy's Department store in downtown Pittsburgh. They continue to affirm their commitment to a sustainable Peace with their annual sidewalk signage, singing, and information sharing.
Black Friday, the largest shopping day of the year, is chosen to indicate the connection between militarism and materialism. For many resources the USA is the world’s largest consumer in absolute terms. For a list of 20 major traded commodities, it takes the greatest share of 11 of them: corn, coffee, copper, lead, zinc, tin, aluminum, rubber, oil seeds, oil and natural gas.
