BUSH ADMINISTRATION ATTACKS SEPARATION OF POWERS DOCTRINE AND FREE PRESS
KENNETH J. THEISEN
2006-06-08 2:19 PM
On the weekend of May 20, 2006 the Bush regime launched an attack on the separation of powers doctrine and the right of a free press. Significantly, both attacks originated with the actions and words of Attorney General Gonzales, the chief law enforcer (or is that breaker) in the nation. These attacks are part of the continuing effort to expand the imperial presidency or the unitary executive theory under this administration and to eliminate any so-called checks and balances between the branches of government.

A GLOBAL CALL FOR NONVIOLENT RESISTANCE ACTIONS ON AUGUST 6-9 -- NOW MORE THAN EVER!
Danny Malec
2006-06-07 4:38 PM
This year, as we prepare to commemorate the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (August 6 and 9), it is imperative that the global peace movement show the links between that genocide and the slaughter of innocent civilians carried out by the U.S. military in its "conventional" war in Haditha, Fallujah and throughout Iraq. THERE IS NO "WAR ON TERROR"
LARRY EVEREST
2006-06-06 4:08 PM
There is no "war on terror." The invasion and occupation of Iraq are not part of a "war on terror." Neither are the current threats and war preparations against Iran. The "war on terror" doesn't exist—no matter how many times the Bush administration cites it to justify its aggressions, no matter how often Republicans and Democrats debate how to best carry it out, and no matter how frequently it's referenced in the U.S. bourgeois media.

Help Us with a Book about Indymedia
NYC-IMC Print Team
2006-06-04 11:41 AM
This book would not attempt to be the definitive statement on Indymedia. Rather, it would be an overview of some of the triumphs and struggles of the network over the past five-and-a-half years. Its entries would range from dramatic, stream-of-thought, first-person pieces to more analytic chapters on the meaning of Indymedia. The book, while thoughtful, would avoid being overly academic and would be graphic/picture heavy.

2006-05-27 4:07 PM
July 15th will be an International Day of Action Against Climate Change. As G8 energy ministers promise trillions in new subsidies to the industries destroying our planet and our future, we will take action to shut them down! This is a call for autonomous, decentralized actions appropriate for your town, city, or bioregion. Use this international day of action to support local struggles against oil refineries, gas pipelines, strip mines and coal-fired power plants. Disrupt the financial backers of the fossil fuel industry. Host teach-ins to spread sustainable post-petroleum living skills. Find a weak point in the infrastructure of resource exploitation and throw a literal or symbolic wrench in the works. Visit your local polluters and give 'em hell! (text/plain)

A longer-term view of the tasks of building anti-imperialist and revolutionary organization in the U.S. in the early 21st century:
(1) Work to build an open community of activists
(2) Develop national reach via the internet (indymedia newswires, email lists, etc)
(3) Develop theoretical tools that will allow us to think about and talk about our long-term goal (text/plain)
