One Hundred Years of Radical Solidarity
Kevin Farkas
2005-09-15 3:36 PM
This year the Industrial Workers of the World celebrates its 100th anniversary. With historic and contemporary ties to Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, the IWW is one of the earliest labor organizations to advocate industrial unionism. In 1909, 1912, and 1913 the Wobblies organized strikes with local workers in the steel and tobacco industries.
The Pittsburgh General Membership Branch of the IWW will be holding a Centenary celebration in October to commemorate one hundred years of radical solidarity unionism. (text/plain)

Katrina has turned out to be the worst disaster in the recorded history of this nation. What’s most egregious is that it was predicted years earlier in books on climate change and the growing global warming crisis, as well as from local officials of the region who knew of the dangers and tried to get Federal assistance. S24: A call for a Revolutionary Anti-Authoritarian Bloc Against the War and Capitalism
Anarcho
2005-09-09 4:50 PM
On September 24th, Anarchist Action, an autonomous network of groups and individuals, has called for a Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist Convergence Against the War in San Francisco. Over the summer, Anarchist Action has held several successful (sub)urban insurrections, militant street parties, and marches in and around the Bay Area. We are inspired by our comrades from the West coast, and as they converge on the streets in San Francisco, we too will take to the streets of Washington DC!
We are calling for a Revolutionary Anti-Authoritarian Bloc Against the War and Capitalism. Meet on September 24th and bring flags, sturdy banners, clothes to blend in at the march, and other defensive items you might need to oppose the war and the system behind it!

If the People Ruled Society - We Could Do Much Better!
RosaRL
2005-09-05 11:50 AM
Look at what this capitalist system with its rule of profit in command has done in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. But there is an alternative to such madness: A socialist society, ruled by the working class, in which production meets the needs of the people and serves the revolutionary transformation of society.
