Student strike march
by Rowdy Students Brigade Thursday, Mar. 20, 2003 at 2:28 PM

just a short summary of the student strike march . . . more to come!

Students and non-students took off today after the noon Food Not Bombs workshop today at the University of Pittsburgh, marching and drumming through university buildings and through Oakland.

Students for a short time occupied 120 Lawrence Hall, stopping the class that was in session and calling for students to strike with them.

One student was arrested for disorderly conduct when strikers were attempting to enter the main entrance of the Cathedral of Learning. Students eventually got in through the ground floor, but after being stopped by police decided to head for CMU rather than push the issue.

After stopping to protest the arrest of their fellow striker, students moved on up Forbes Avenue to CMU, marching across the cut and then to Schenley Park. The march ended outside the Frick Fine Arts building and strikers continued with the day of teach ins and workshops.
