for Pittsburgh Indymedia--Oliver North speaks in Pittsburgh.
Oliver North will be speaking at the Omni William Penn for a Founder's Day Reception/Dinner Proceeds benefiting St. Barnabas Charitable Foundation Free Care Fund. Below are a couple of links, one for a little history on the Iran-Contra scandal and North's role in it , the other a biography of the criminal. The fair article also points out how Elliot Abrams, John Negroponte, and Otto Reich, convicted criminals after the scandal, are now Bush's cabinet members. In 1989, North was convicted by a federal grand jury of "obstructing a congressional inquiry, destroying and falsifying Security Council documents, and accepting an illegal gratuity" Unfortunately, the priviledged, like Mr. North, in 1991this conviction was reversed on a technicality. Wanna let Mr. North know that there are people in Pittsburgh who haven't forgotten still don't tolerate his crimes?
