Against the war! The Pittsburgh Organizing Group [POG] has put out a call for a demonstration against war on August 24th and we’d like all creative folks to join them. We will assemble at 2:00pm at Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park. The rally will be preceded by a 1:00pm picnic against poverty and followed by a MARCH.
Creativity uber alles!
Come all ye faithful! We need you: artists and poets, singers and songwriters, freaks and geeks, revelers and ravers, skateboarders and rollerblade aficionados, office workers and students, punks and carnies, housewives and daydreamers.
Whatever label has been thrust upon you, whatever label you’ve embraced. The warmongers have rained death and destruction upon the people of Iraq. Every day is filled with another headline of the politician’s lies, the corporate plunder, the growing body counts, and the weeping loved ones.
The war is from over and yet we remain silent. The time has come to take our voice back to the streets. On March 20th we saw the ugly fist of state power remove itself from the velvet glove. We’ve paid our fines, done our time, and now we need to take it back to the street.

We will be there with our instruments of musical merriment, our rage at injustice, and our joy of collective resistance. The rest is up to you. This movement must continue to incorporate more and more creative elements into our actions. The decision of how to resist is up to you! No steering committees and no leaders. Form a contingent and bring what you’ve got. Flags, bubbles, kites, bikes, tricycles, masks, goggles, poems, literature, and more is requested at this gathering. Take back what the system has stolen from you- the freedom to be who you are and the freedom to shape the society you’re a part of.
We are calling for a cacophony of diversity to reshape the world. We welcome you to join us and the possibilities are endless…
Stop the war and occupation. Whatever happens on the streets, NO REGRETS!
Resistance is fertile,
Creative Carnies for change!
