Three dozen participated in a hastily-organized protest of John Ashcroft today despite a heavy rain. Ashcroft was speaking at the Marriot at Chatham Center to defend the USA PATRIOT Act to a group of local law enforcement officials. His arrival was delayed briefly because of a suspicious package that turned out to be harmless. Ashcroft, on a tour to defend the heavily criticized bill, also visited <a href="http://mke.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=3950">Milwaukee</a> today.
