Members of SEIU's Justice for Janitors campaign occupy Centre City Tower

This morning at 8am, about 130 people stormed the Centre City Tower lobby to protest the firing of nine janitors last December. About 37 people didn’t disperse when the police arrived and were taken away in plastic handcuffs to the jail.
Harriet Bryant (one of the fired janitors), and Gabe Morgan (organizer for the Service Employees International Union), have been on a hunger strike this week to protest the firings. The week’s events have included banner drops, a vigil and a press conference with tenants of the building speaking out. Tomorrow, Friday at 9:30am at Centre City Towers (Smithfield and Seventh Ave.) the Stations of the Cross will make a stop at the tent where the hunger strikers are camped out.
