On Friday, November 26, the day after Thanksgiving, twenty people gathered outside Kaufmann's department store Downtown to say "no to consumer spending and to the war." Wearing large pink price tags that read, "women don't buy the war," activists handed out flyers and grabbed the attention of shoppers. The action, which was held on the busiest shopping day of the year, was part of "Buy Nothing Day," an annual global day of action directed against rank consumerism and the "doomsday economy." Thanks to Philomena for her photos. Audio from the protest was included in Pittsburgh Indymedia's radio show: http://media.indypgh.org/uploads/2004/12/imc-rustbelt-radio-2004-11-30.mp3
